Field Report IDA Project (CCC E-Mag March, 2016) by Ramprasad Mahurkar (12 years) Sanjivani International School Kharghar, Navi Mumbai
Ever since I got introduced to the mesmerizing world of butterflies, I have wished to have our own small butterfly garden and see some of them fluttering on our flower beds. To understand the nitty-gritty of a butterfly garden, I started visiting the Agro-Society Butterfly garden in Sector 9, CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai. One can see many butterflies there in the morning and evening hours. I chose a spot near to the Lantena and Bryophylum bushes, for my observations. Lantena is a very popular nectar plant for butterflies and Bryophylum is a popular larval host plant. There was a small Bauhinia tree providing a little shade and a small rock to sit on. So, this spot appeared good. There was a second spot where there were Lantena bushes and Stachytarpheta bushes - another popular nectar plant.
