Appeal for Blind Dogs at IDA
We have 19 dogs at our centre who are blind, and cannot go back to the street as they will surely get run over by passing vehicles. At the same time our centre is over flowing with dogs, and we have to reduce the crowding. Yesterday I visited Deonar centre and there are 639 dogs all together, of which dogs that have come for sterilization are only 228 and rest are either there to receive treatment for injury or illness or are sheltered there because they are blind, old or handicapped. We desperately need to reduce these numbers. By this email I wish to appeal to you to try and help us find homes for the blind dogs - especially the young ones. Anybody who has a farm or a house with a back yard can adopt one of these dogs. While we cannot give sight to these poor animals, we can definitely give them a better life if some one cares enough to take care of them for their balance life of 5-6 years. Please make efforts to find homes for them. I am attaching photographs of 5 year Sheru who was recently picked up from Ville Parle (blinded during Diwali) as he was running helter skelter in the busy market place. 5 year old Goldie and 4 year old Chimya came to the centre in BMC vans for sterilization, and when we realised that they are blind, we did not send them back. While pictures of only 3 dogs are attached, the other 16 dogs are all equally cute, and desperately in need of a caring guardian. Please help us to help these animals!!
