Animal Hospital Project
In Mumbai there is presently only one animal hospital at Parel that was set up 130 years ago when Mumbai was one fourth of today's size. Also it caters mainly to pet animals. There is no hospital to help homeless, stray animals hence IDA India has a dream of setting up a second animal hospital in Mumbai / Navi Mumbai region. Fortunately our Fizzah Shah won a television contest which fetched her Rs. 20 hundred thousand (after deduction of tax), which she instantly donated to IDA India. This amount has been set aside for this hospital project, and efforts are on to find land. If we get land, then rest will follow very soon.
Our vision:
- A safe haven for the abused, betrayed pets.
- A transit home for abandoned pets, until they get re-homed.
- A place for homeless animals to recuperate from their illness / injury.
- A place with all modern facilities like x-ray machines, pathology lab, operation theatres for large animals and small animals.
- Stables for horses and other equines.
- Sheds for cattle
- Aviary for birds
- A rehabilitation centre for rescued wild animals.
- An isolation ward
Besides the regular facilities like kennels, cat cages, electric crematorium, etc.
First hurdle in implementing this project:
The first hurdle to start a hospital, is to get a large track of land in and around Mumbai & Navi Mumbai, easily accessible by road. We are looking out desperately for a compassionate, generous donor, who can help us to get land for the hospital. Your contribution to this cause will fill in a big void in animal welfare in this region.
